I enjoyed reading the author’s experience after she landed at JFK and in her first few days in the US. It reminds me of how I felt in 2011 when I came to the US. It also brought a memory I shared with the author when I felt lost, struggling to navigate the academic maze in the US.
At the time I was attending college for the first time, and the only person I thought of at the moment was Cheryl McKenzie, my academic advisor. Ms. McKenzie left her office and accompanied me to the admission office to ensure the issue was resolved. She became my Guardian Angel.
This serves as a reminder that anything is possible with hard work and determination. This depicts the life of a woman I admire. I would recommend this book to family, friends, and clients because it shows that no matter where you are in life the universe has a bigger plan for you.
This represents the result of what can happen when a dream, passion, hard- work, resilience, faith and belief come together. Ms. Mac, I am where I am today because you believe in me, and you challenge me to be the best version of myself. I am not surprised by this achievement at all. You continue to practice what you preach. You push yourself to greater lengths the same you do with each student that walks through your door and I am so proud of you.
